It’s been a rough day so far. We waited for hours for nausea medicine because the pharmacist was on another floor for a “rapid response.” Because it’s the weekend there is only one pharmacist on duty. That must be stressful. I want to just take a minute and speak blessing over that pharmacist and all the nurses thar have been super busy today. In addition to the nausea and due to the fluid pill with lack of eating Sam’s potassium is low. They feel that’s what caused his heart rate to jump up to 170 and blood pressure to rise. Of course he hadn’t had his blood pressure meds either. They have him taking potassium pills but thety make you sick on your stomach if there’s no food in there. What a viscous, miserable cycle. After finally getting the anti nausea medicine Sam has been dozing. He did get down a half of graham cracker and a piece or two of honey dew. One of Sam’s customers commented telling me that the 3rd day post op is usually the worst. I am going to claim that and believe that tomorrow will be much better. Watching him sleep is so much better than watching him moan with nausea.
Today is my Mom’s 89th birthday. I feel sad that I can’t be there to celebrate with her. She is quite a trooper, still living alone, doing her own house work, all the while dealing with dehabilitating pain from spinal stenosis and scoliosis. Thank you to all those from our family and church family who sent her cards, stopped to see her or called with birthday wishes. This blesses me as much as it does her. Happy Birthday Mom.
