Today ended up with some excitement. As I said earlier they removed the chest tubes this afternoon. Sam was feeling better but when his supper came he began to feel nauseous again. He ate very little. After supper he was coughing up some phlegm which of course doesn’t feel great on his chest. Later on he told me he could feel something wet under his arm. I looked and saw that he was bleeding. One of the chest tube holes had opened when he was coughing. This caused quite a flurry of activity with the nurses. After he was all patched up and lying in bed he didn’t want to get back up so he missed out on his 3rd walk for the day. I’m hoping the nausea is a thing of the past tomorrow.
The infectous disease docs were in this afternoon and said that his blood cultures were negative and the surgeons saw no leftover infection in the heart. The pathology report is not back yet on the tissue sample but they feel it will be negative also. They felt the antibiotics could be stopped but Dr. Desai asked that they take a very conservative approach so they agreed to 4 more weeks. As of today they are talking about Monday as a possible discharge. Please pray for this to be obtainable. I’m so anxious to have Sam back home.
If he drank Coronas with limes he never would have got that infection! Might improve his domino game too!!
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and Sam.We just heard about this from Dan.WE are not big social media followers so sort of fell onto this.God be with you both.I will keep up with the blog to see how you are both doing.
