Progress

The chest tube is out. Sam says it feels much better. He was up for a short stroll just before lunch but his neuropathy made it difficult to feel his feet. They have not increased his Gabapentin back up to his usual dose yet. It’s the only thing that helps the neuropathy. He will be walking again this afternoon. It should be much easier without the chest tube. He is still quite drowsy from the pain and anti nausea meds. Sam had some visitors this afternoon. The first one was a childhood friend that he hasn’t seen in over 20 years. He works here at Penn. A couple we know from Chambersburg also came to visit. I worked with Linda back in the 80s and we have been friends ever since. It’s so comforting to know that so many people care about you. God has placed angels everywhere around us. One of the surgeon fellows was in and he said Sam looks great. He said if all goes well we may be looking at Sunday or Monday for Sam to go home. Praise the Lord!

  1. Mike and I are so happy to hear Sam’s making a strong recovery. Your faith and strength is inspiring. You are truly blessed. We’ll keep you in our prayers.

  2. This is very good news. I am so glad Rita that you have been given back the gift of Sam’s life. How precious and fragile life is, I am so glad and count it as a GLORY HALLELUJAH that you two still have each other by God’s divine intervention. I just get such a sense that there is not even one shred of “gee that guy was lucky” in any of this. If truly Jesus is before the throne living to make intercession for us then His touch has traced along every thread in Sam’s tapestry of life creating a most glorious pattern. ONLY God can unravel a knot and make straight the thread of life to weave an intriguing picture of purpose and beauty of Him. Ahhhh, no other hands like the Masters.
