Ok, last week when I posted I left out a detail. I had broken a tooth Tuesday morning; I wasn’t even eating when it happened, I just noted that something felt weird and stuck my tongue up there. No great big deal except for my friend Sandi had been on antibiotics for a long period of time and it had devastating results. The antibiotics had destroyed her teeth and she had shared that with me a while back. I can’t help where my mind goes sometimes. Guessing many people have false teeth but I had hoped to not go that way. I got my tooth looked at last Thursday and Dr Bob said “depending on how bad it is in there we can either fill it or do a root canal”. I’m not keen on having any more root canals. (If anyone wants to hear that story, message me or post a comment here and I’ll find it for you.) Anyways, the schedule showed it would be half way thru August to get in to get this thing REALLY looked at… but then it happened. They had a cancellation pop up so I got in this morning at 7:20am.
Dr Bob got the drill going and after a while he said “It’s not nearly as bad a I expected”. He was able to clean it up and do a new filling and it should be good to go. As I was leaving one of the ladies there said “What a way to start your Monday Huh?” and as I considered her words I said, “Let’s turn it around and say thank God I got to keep my tooth”. I still made my 8:30am appointment in Chambersburg; which brings me to another part of my story.
I started seeing a Chiropractor a several weeks ago. Most people likely think of a chiropractor when they have lower back pain but I am finding out there are many other aspects to this type of treatment. Dr Allan A. Buratti in Chambersburg is an accomplished D.C., and also a C.C.S.P. (Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician). I initially went to see Dr Buratti to have him order some blood work of all things. He has a multi-page questionnaire to have you fill out then sends you off for specific blood work based on your symptoms and complaints. The tests are targeted based on your health issues and the results show what areas you may be lacking. Clinical levels give a guideline to reference but just because an individual is within a certain guideline does not mean that things are fine. Anyways once the results are back then the good Doc sets about with a list of supplements that can be instrumental in helping with any levels that need adjustment.
I am reading a book that Dr B co-wrote called “More of the World’s Best Kept Health Secret Revealed”. In part One he is quoted as having said “The average physician treats the disease once it occurs. The better-than-average physician prevents the disease from coming back. The best physician prevents the disease from ever occurring”. The concept I see unfolding in this book is that most of us go to a doctor after we get sick but we can go to a doctor and have him or her look at our present state and determine what may be done to prevent things from happening in the first place since the conditions that humans are plagued with do not take place overnight. Dr Buratti continues by saying “As I see it, our current healthcare system has a huge division, or “gap,” between perfect health and disease. On one side of the divide is wellness. On the other side is disease. What people do between those two extremes could determine the future of their health and the quality of their lives.”
Anyways I am finding this to be a very interesting concept. Although my most significant issues stemmed from a blood infection, the infection may have been able to be detected?
Beyond the blood work and supplement route, Dr Buratti also can check for subluxation. Subluxation is a condition where any bone loses its proper position. “The network of nerves throughout the body originates from the spine. It is theorized a subluxation can impede the function of all the various organs, muscles and cells influenced by that particular level of the spine”. Obviously I have a very simplified explanation here but suffice it to say I am having a few trouble spots worked on to correct my misaligned bones. Anything I can do to eliminate trouble that may stem from something that can be easily corrected, I am in favor of.
I highly recommend Dr. Buratti’s office as the staff is friendly and professional. Dr Buratti always takes the time to let me ask questions and I never feel rushed.
